What are HTML Color Codes?

Types of HTML Color Coding Methods
There basically three types of HTML Color Coding methods that are used to present a color on the web. These are:
1. Color Names
They are just like, we name colors. These are simple color names that do not need any additional color codes or color values. Therefore, you can directly specify your preferred color as per their names.
However, there are only 16 basic color names that are proposed by W3C that you can use as HTML colors. These are Black, Gray, Silver, White, Yellow, Lime, Aqua, Fuchsia, Red, Green, Blue, Purple, Maroon, Olive, Navy, and Teal.
But, there are 200 different color names that are supported by the majority of web browsers.
Example: To make body text blue with a green background you can use the following code. <body text=”blue” bgcolor=”green”> respectively.
2. Hex Color Code
These are the most common and most widely used HTML color coding schemes. In this, there are a total of six alphanumeric values that represent three major color i.e. Red, Blue, and Green.
In addition, the “#” is used before the 6-digit alphanumeric code which is represented by the Hex Color Code: #RRGGBB.
However, Hex color code is also used in popular graphic design applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Paintshop, or MS Paint.
Example: In hex color code, blue color represented by #0000FF, while black is represented by #000000.
3. RGB Color Code
In the RGB color-coding system, the color value is generated by using a combination of the Red, Green, and Blue. All these combinations represent a different color with a specific value.
The RGB Color Code value ranges from 0 and 255 or a percentage which is in the series of red, green, and blue. So, a single color can have up to 256 different shades. And the total possible colors are 256*256*256*= 16777216 colors.
Example: The RGB Color code for black would be “rgb (0, 0, 0)”.
